What is Cannabidiol?
Cannabidiol is one of 113 currently known cannabinoids — “special” chemical compounds found in cannabis. CBD accounts for at least 40% of the plant’s extract and has become highly regarded due to its non-addictive, non-intoxicating nature and it’s healing properties. It’s an antipsychotic known to help alleviate pain, regulate disordered thinking and anxiety. It is commonly advised for patients suffering from multiple sclerosis as a palliative remedy. Thank you Wikipedia for the facts and thank you CBD for being so chill.
Cannabidiol is extremely safe: no one gets high, even though it’s derived from the cannabis plant. In fact, it’s classified as a food supplement by the FDA and is often used as an active ingredient in many food items. You could be eating CBD right now!?
How is Cannabidiol consumed?
While CBD is usually ingested in the form of oil, it is also available in an easy-to-swallow capsule form. It is a lot easier to get the dosage right as well as being more convenient to carry around. Duh!
Different types of CBD pills
CBD capsules come in different varieties and compositions. OMG! I don’t care. Just wait, this next part is about the crack version of CBD. The most common variety of CBD pill usually has CBD mixed with MCT (medium chain triglycerides bitches) coconut oil, which is known to increase the speed of absorption and effectiveness of CBD in your body. Once you take a CBD pill, it is digested and filtered by the liver which sends the Cannabidiol to other parts of the body through the bloodstream. Wow! It’s just like every other drug ever.
OK, this next part is about the crack of CBD. Kind of cool learning about CBD mixed with MCT oil right? Lol, just jokes. I know it’s boring. Anyway, back to the CBD crack. There are also CBD isolates where the CBD oil is mixed with inert powders to increase the capsule volume. CBD isolate is extremely pure and even a small dose can be very strong. These can be really expensive and are usually hard to find but like not impossible so if you want it just Google it.
Why Choose CBD pills Over Oil/Tinctures?
Well, the simple fact is you can just carry a pill around and swallow it, whereas you need to pour the oil below your tongue or add it to food/drink. CBD oil normally leaves a grassy aftertaste which lasts for hours; pills do not.
Are CBD oils better?
Yes and no. The answer depends on your preference and usage. For instance, you can vary the dosage when it comes to oil whereas each CBD pill comes with a fixed dosage. Of course, you could just take another pill. You can also add CBD oil to your food/drinks — making it easier to consume especially for people who have trouble swallowing pills (babies, cowardly people, people with sore throats).
There are a number of different brands and varieties of CBD oils for you to choose from, allowing you to find something that suits you… perfectly… as opposed to the limited CBD pill options. I should definitely mention that the price point of CBD oils/tinctures, etc. are significantly lower than their capsule counterpart. CBD oil is also sold in plastic syringes (measurable doses), vape cartridges, sprays, tinctures (with MCT oil) and other random forms. So the non-pill form is ideal for someone who needs to get a quick dose of the old CBD. It’s dope but won’t get you high regardless of it being a pill or oil or whatever.
